GiGsoc the original "Gay In Galway"  is the LGBT society of NUIG.

Letter from the GigSoc Team:

GiGsoc provides a safe fun welcoming environment for all members of the LGBT community, irrespective of your out status.

Everyone is welcome at GiGsoc, student or not. We run weekly events throughout the academic year, ranging from top class entertainment nights like Smells Like Queen Spirit, GiGsoc Idol and GiGsoc Unplugged, to educational events that are always fun yet informative.

GiGsoc is not a rights activist group, we function solely for the well being of our members. It is written in our constitution that anyone who does not wish to be outed will not be outed, so it is a safe environment for non out members of the community and those who are dying to jump back into the closet.

Hence GiGsoc does not add people off facebook! (But add us as a friend if you want!) We recognise that not everyone has someone in their circle of friends that they would feel approachable to attend a GiGsoc event with, and thus the prospect of coming alone is daunting, or maybe you are unsure if joining the society is right for you, *queue the ice-breakers!* members of the committee that will meet you discreetly over a cup of coffee prior to a meeting and discuss any questions you have and answer them as best possible, by organising an ice-breaker you are not obliged to attend the event, so don't worry!
